Concerts: Paul McCartney @ Staples

From the very last nosebleed row at Staples Center, my friend Jill & I sat with views of both onstage and backstage. Paul McCartney seemed tired and unenthused, but the concert was still good.

Barbie Eisenhower’s Night on the Town

My two girlfriends and I decided to try out speed dating! HurryDate had just what we were looking for: an evening of fun at Lola’s (home of the Appletini), men ages 30-45, and promises of happily ever after.

Not quite. While I had several 4-minute dates, half the men were in their late 50s (and older) and really not what we expected. I quickly changed my name to Barbie Eisenhower and just had fun! Still, even though my friends & I didn’t meet Mr. Right (or even Mr. Right Now) we had a blast, would do it again, and would use HurryDate!

Culture: Puccini’s La Boheme

Who doesn’t like dinner theatre? I discovered the Casa Italiana Opera Company La-Boheme-Public-Domainthrough Goldstar & was excited to spend an afternoon with my dad and Puccini. I felt like I crashed a wedding that only those over 60 were invited to. The regulars went out of their way to make us “newbies” feel like family. My dad had a fantastic time and the leads playing Mimi & Rodolfo were excellent.
